Process

First Meeting

We might talk on the phone or text to start, but meeting in person (if possible) is always the most ideal. I work from my home office, so often times I visit with people in their personal home or a public place like a coffee shop. For clients outside of the Treasure Valley, a Zoom meeting is usually the go-to-method. I’ll likely ask you several questions about your job, income, savings, debt and other financial items. My goal is to get all of the information about you that I need to serve you and your family best.

Contract Signing

Depending on how we both feel about the conversation, we might sign a contract upon meeting. Others need time to think about it, and sometimes it takes a few meetings before we sign a contract.

As an independent advisor, I need a place to house my client accounts and so I’ve chosen to custody with Charles Schwab. If you already have accounts with Charles Schwab, moving them over is very easy. Otherwise, we’ll work on getting new accounts setup.

Portfolio Creation

Once I have a good understanding of your needs and goals, probably the most important piece to determine is how much of a risk taker you are. Are we building a very aggressive portfolio or something more conservative? I have a simple one-page Investment Policy Statement that I will have you sign off on and then I start trading and building the portfolio. When I get new assets to invest, I generally build up the portfolio over a period of 4-6 weeks.

Ongoing Evaluation

One thing I’ve learned is that life can change in an instant. Our financial situation today can dramatically change in a matter of weeks or months. You get a new job, you sell a house, or you inherit assets. Perhaps you get married, have children, or there is a death in the family.

I check in with clients throughout the year and make changes to our plan and/or investment portfolio as needed. I don’t have traditional “office hours.” Call me, text me, email me whenever you have a question or concern. I do my best to get back to clients quickly even if it’s an evening or weekend.

Ready to take control of your financial future?

Let me help you get there. I’d love to hear from you!
